Shami lost her long fight with Cancer and said farewell to her loving husband and beautiful daughter on Friday 25th January.

As Shami and her family have been on temporary visa’s they have not been covered by Medicare or private health insurance. Many of you have given generously to help meet their huge expenses but there is still an outstanding amount.

Let’s join hands to help finalize their expenses and to assist them relocate to a suitable home near the school as Ashok once again finds employment.

All money raised will go towards Shami’s outstanding medical expenses and for Alvina and her dad to relocate closer to the school.

Dear Supporters of Shamy, An urgent appeal for Shamy Thank you so much for your heartfelt support earlier in the year. It has been remiss of us to provide you with updated information on Shamy’s progress and for this we apologise. Shamy was unable to have the operation to remove the tumours at the time of this appeal and as such, she went on to have further Chemotherapy in hopes of reducing the size of the tumours, the funds were kept for the time when the surgery could be performed. This has been a horrific journey for her and her husband Ashok and their young daughter in our Year 1 class. The Chemotherapy made daily life unbearable for Shamy and she made the courageous decision to stop the treatment to maintain a better quality of life with her family. She has now been admitted to hospital in a critical condition and we need to rally to support them through this time and beyond. The tumour has grown and Shamy has had one operation as an interim step. She will probably need more and will be in intensive care for a period of time. As people who love and care about Shamy we are asking for another push with this campaign to help with funding this operation and her recovery. Please, if you can afford to contribute again, please do so immediately. If not please forward the campaign on again and ask the people in your networks to help. Most of all please continue to pray for Shamy, Ashok and Alvina. Thank you, Justin Gunn and Dave Yardley Thornlie Christian College

Hello everyone, Here is an update about Shamy. Firstly she hasn’t had the operation yet as it was determined that the best course of action was to have some Chemo treatment first to try and reduce the size of the tumours. Shamy recently started this treatment and here is an update from Ashok: “A quick update of Shamy’s medical treatment…. The oncological surgeon who did the keyhole surgery met us last week to discuss the findings of the laparoscopy. The results are a little worrying as the spread of cancer is more than what the scans originally picked up. Having an immediate surgery would be not only greatly impact the quality of Shamy’s life but threaten her life. Therefore, the oncological team have decided to set Shamy under intense chemotherapy for three months and to then perform the surgery. By doing this the doctors are planning to shrink the tumours, eradicate most of the spread and then remove the tumours after three months. Her chemotherapy started last week, and we spent approximately 8 hours in the hospital on the first visit. All our family and friends are praying to the Lord to give Shamy the needed strength and courage to go through this treatment. Thank you all for all the love and immense support without which we would have been very much left alone. Will keep everyone posted. May God bless you. Ashok” Please continue to pray, share and support Shamy through this journey.

UPDATE: Monday the 12th, we got the admission at 11 am at St. John of God, Murdoch for Shamy’s laparoscopy. This was carried out in order to have a plan for the scheduled major surgery. We spent approximately 7 hours at the hospital on that day. We were informed that we will get a call from the surgeon’s room regarding the outcome. On the 14th June evening, we received a call from surgeon’s giving us an appointment to meet the surgeon on the 21st June. It’s to discuss the results of the laparoscopy and the surgery. We would like to thank everyone who’s praying for us and all friends and family who are standing with us. We thank the school, our family and friends who have been taking care of Alvina during this time and keeping her happy which gives us a peace of mind. It’s not easy to find assistance, especially with monetary concerns. We sincerely thank all who have contributed and everyone who are extending their hands to support us financially. Thank you May God bless you With love Ashok & Shamy
